TekTone® announced today that it is expanding operations in Franklin, NC with the purchase of a vacant 72,262 square foot facility in the Macon County Industrial Park, where the company has been located since 1998.

The company has enjoyed a steady increase in sales over the last five years, and expects that trend to continue. The new facility is more than twice the size of the manufacturer’s current space, which will allow TekTone® to expand its workforce by 50% over the next five years to accommodate the expected growth.

TekTone® is renovating the facility extensively, and plans to begin moving its warehousing and shipping departments there in October. All operations will be moved to the new facility by the end of 2016. TekTone®’s total investment in this project will be at least $3.2 million.

“The purchase of the former SKF facility is a significant investment for us,” commented Carlos Mira, President of TekTone®. “When it became clear we were outgrowing our current facility, we made it a priority to stay in Macon County, if at all possible. We thank our employees, customers, and partners for making this a reality, and look forward to expansion and growth in the Macon County Industrial Park.”

The project was made possible in part by performance-based grants from the OneNC Fund ($90,000) and Macon County ($30,000). Partners involved in the project include Macon County, Macon County Economic Development Commission, North Carolina Department of Commerce, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.
